Privacy policy

Greifbar is a non-commercial hobby project. This statement describes which personal data is processed when you visit the site — kept short and concrete on purpose.

What happens when you load the site

As soon as you open the site, your browser routinely transmits connection metadata to the server delivering the page. The hosting provider stores the following in standard log files:

This data is processed solely to keep the server running (delivery, error diagnosis, abuse defence). No analysis with reference to individuals takes place. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in stable operation).

Cookies

Greifbar sets no cookies of its own. There are no tracking pixels, no analytics tools (such as Google Analytics, Plausible, Matomo) and no advertising embedded.

Fonts

The JetBrains Mono typeface is delivered from the same server that serves this page. No connection is made to Google Fonts or any other external CDN.

Database queries

When you select chords and click "Find songs", your browser sends your chord selection and filters (genre, decade, title search, sort order) to the server. These requests are evaluated server-side against a local SQLite database. No data is forwarded to third parties, nothing is stored long-term.

External links

Every search result offers links to external platforms: Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Google search. Only when you click one of these links do you yourself open a connection to the respective provider. Greifbar does not transmit any data to those providers as long as you only browse the result list. Once you open them, the providers' own privacy policies apply:

Donations via PayPal

The "♥ Donate" link points to PayPal (paypal.me/marc85444). Donations are processed entirely on PayPal's servers (PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A.); I only receive the information that a donation has arrived (name, amount, optionally a public message). The PayPal privacy policy applies.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right at any time to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Articles 15-21 GDPR). For complaints you can contact the competent supervisory authority. Since no user profiles are created on this site, those rights effectively apply only to the server log files of your visit (see above).
